Facilities
Sertoma 4-H Center covers nearly 900 acres in the beautifully forested Sauratown Mountains of North Carolina. Located off Moore’s Springs Road in Stokes County, about 25 miles north-northeast of Winston-Salem, it is centrally located and an easy car ride from most anywhere in the state. Despite its proximity to some of North Carolina's major urban areas, it retains a quiet relaxed atmosphere that makes it seem worlds away from the hustle and bustle of city life.
Main Camp
The main part of camp is located on a ridge with the Old Hotel being the heart of the center. Down the ridge are other activity areas outlined below.
- The Old Hotel houses the Dining Hall, adminstrative offices, lobby and conference room. The newly renovated cafeteria can seat up to 60 people comfortably at one time using 8x10 wooden rectangular tables. There is a handicap accessible ramp that leads to the cafeteria.
- Conference Room is a great place to have your next board meeting. Ten chairs surround a large wooden table that overlooks the rocking chairs on the porch. The conference room affectionately known as the pretty room from when Sertoma was an Episcopal church camp is the perfect place to have a board or staff meeting. A large display case hold historical camp photos and items and on the opposite side of the room are two folding table ready for you to plug your walky talkies in or portable copy machine. Maximum Capacity 21
- The Chapel was built when Vade Mecum was an Episcopal Church camp. The Bank of Granite paid for the renovations in 2002. A new roof, central heat and air and a new floor was put in. In addition there is a small wall mounted cabinet where the cross can either be seen or hidden away for more non-secular functions. There is no bathroom facilities in the Chapel. Sertoma can provide a portable screen and LCD projector at this location for your meeting needs. It is also the camps designated tornado shelter. Need building dimenstions?
- The Gym also known as the Recreation Hall has been the site for many wedding receptions, dances and summer camp campfire meetings. It features a covered flagstone patio with many picnic tables and rocking chairs. There are two basketball goals inside and both flourescent gym type lights and flood lights. It ihas one of the largest wooden floors in Stokes County (this is one of the reasons we are so popular with the contra dance groups). Local historians suspect that the gym was built overtop of the original Vade Mecum Springs hotels. The Recreation Hall or Gym as we call it at Sertoma was built around the 1940's and has a beautiful rustic exterior. Locals call it the barn.Maximum Capacity 731. Need building dimenstions? - The 5/3rd classroom features central heat and air, a bathroom, a ceiling mounted LCD projector a SMART board and 7 rectangular tables and many chairs. It is the perfect building for a day conference or board meeting. Need room dimenstions? Visit the classrooms page.
