Sertoma 4-H Center covers nearly 900 acres in the beautifully forested Sauratown Mountains of North Carolina. Located off Moore’s Springs Road in Stokes County, about 25 miles north-northeast of Winston-Salem, it is centrally located and an easy car ride from most anywhere in the state. Despite its proximity to some of North Carolina's major urban areas, it retains a quiet relaxed atmosphere that makes it seem worlds away from the hustle and bustle of city life.

Cheshire Hall (the Old Hotel)

Cheshire Hall which was built around 1890 has three floors. On the first floor is the Lobby, Cafeteria, Conference Room, Administrative offices and bathrooms. The first floor has heat and air with the second floor having just heat. The second floor has rooms with twin beds in them. Some rooms have bunk beds and others just have one. The third floor has rooms with queen beds. Usually two beds per room. Linens are not provided for rentals. There are a few window units in the rooms that face the woods on the 3rd floor, the rest have fans. The 2nd and 3rd floor have male and female hall bathrooms. There is a handicap accessible ramp that leads to the room. In addition, it is newly renovated. The cafeteria can seat up to 75 people comfortably at one time using 8x10 wooden rectangular tables.

Conference Room

The Conference Room is a great place to have your next board meeting. Ten chairs surround a large wooden table that overlooks the rocking chairs on the porch. The conference room affectionately known as the pretty room from when Sertoma was an Episcopal church camp is the perfect place to have a board or staff meeting. The Chapel

Chapel at Sertoma 4-H CenterThe Chapel was built when Vade Mecum was an Episcopal Church camp. The Bank of Granite paid for the renovations in 2002. A new roof, central heat and air and a new floor was put in. In addition there is a small wall mounted cabinet where the cross can either be seen or hidden away for more non-secular functions. There is no bathroom facilities in the Chapel. Sertoma can provide a portable screen and LCD projector at this location for your meeting needs. It is also the camps designated tornado shelter. The Gym

Gym at Sertoma 4-H CenterThe Gym also known as the Recreation Hall has been the site for many wedding receptions, dances and summer camp campfire meetings. It features a covered flagstone patio with many picnic tables and rocking chairs. There are two basketball goals inside and both flourescent gym type lights and flood lights. It ihas one of the largest wooden floors in Stokes County (this is one of the reasons we are so popular with the contra dance groups). Local historians suspect that the gym was built overtop of the original Vade Mecum Springs hotels. The Recreation Hall or Gym as we call it at Sertoma was built around the 1940's and has a beautiful rustic exterior. Locals call it the barn. Need building dimenstions? Visit the gym page.

Campers in line at Camp StoreCamp Store

The camp store building serves several functions. First it's an Arts and Crafts shed, second it's a store and third, the back half is a summer camping staff lounge. The staff lounge has a washing machine and dryer and a small kitchen area with a fridge, microwave and toaster oven. Occasionally a donated TV and VCR/DVD player will turn up in there as well.
