Main Camp
Sertoma 4-H Center covers nearly 900 acres in the beautifully forested Sauratown Mountains of North Carolina. Located off Moore’s Springs Road in Stokes County, about 25 miles north-northeast of Winston-Salem, it is centrally located and an easy car ride from most anywhere in the state. Despite its proximity to some of North Carolina's major urban areas, it retains a quiet relaxed atmosphere that makes it seem worlds away from the hustle and bustle of city life.
Cheshire Hall (the old hotel)
One of the ways in which 4-H broadens the reach of its research-based, learn-by-doing programs is by making Sertoma 4-H Center available as a training center for various groups. Let us help you design your next event.
The Cafeteria
The Cafeteria or Dining Hall is located in Cheshire Hall or the Old Hotel. There is a handicap accessible ramp that leads to the room. In addition, it is newly renovated. The cafeteria can seat up to 75 people comfortably at one time using 8x10 wooden rectangular tables.
The Chapel
The Chapel was built when Vade Mecum was an Episcopal Church camp. The Bank of Granite paid for the renovations in 2002. A new roof, central heat and air and a new floor was put in. In addition there is a small wall mounted cabinet where the cross can either be seen or hidden away for more non-secular functions. There is no bathroom facilities in the Chapel. Sertoma can provide a portable screen and LCD projector at this location for your meeting needs. It is also the camps designated tornado shelter. Need building dimenstions? Visit the chapel page.
The Gym
The Gym also known as the Recreation Hall has been the site for many wedding receptions, dances and summer camp campfire meetings. It features a covered flagstone patio with many picnic tables and rocking chairs. There are two basketball goals inside and both flourescent gym type lights and flood lights. It ihas one of the largest wooden floors in Stokes County (this is one of the reasons we are so popular with the contra dance groups). Local historians suspect that the gym was built overtop of the original Vade Mecum Springs hotels. The Recreation Hall or Gym as we call it at Sertoma was built around the 1940's and has a beautiful rustic exterior. Locals call it the barn. Need building dimenstions? Visit the gym page.
The Classrooms
Located near the entrance to Sertoma are the two classrooms. In the 1990's the classrooms were known as the arts and crafts shed, the OLS or outdoor lving skills shed. In 2008 5th 3rd bank sponsored the renovations of the old maintanence shed and it was named in their honor.
The 5/3rd classroom features central heat and air, a bathroom, a ceiling mounted LCD projector a SMART board and 7 rectangular tables and many chairs. It is the perfect building for a day conference or board meeting. Need room dimenstions? Visit the classrooms page.
The Computer Lab, which has central heat and air, features a small partitioned office and a bathroom. There is a dry erase board in the front of the room. There are 7 rectangular tables in the room and many chairs. Need room dimenstions? Visit the classrooms page.
